What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves using a device with fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing response, promoting collagen and elastin production to improve skin texture, firmness, and overall appearance.

What is PRP, and how is it used with microneedling?

PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. It is derived from your own blood and contains growth factors that enhance healing and rejuvenation. When used with microneedling, PRP is applied to the skin during the treatment to boost results, improve recovery time, and enhance overall skin texture and tone.

Who performs the treatments?

Licensed and experienced medical professionals, such as registered nurses or nurse practitioners, administer microneedling. A topical anesthetic is applied to the areas being treated to ensure maximum comfort during the microneedling procedure. This typically takes about 30 minutes to take effect.

If I opt into adding PRP to my microneedling session, what does the process look like?

A licensed medical professional with draw a small amount of your blood will be drawn from your arm. This process is quick and similar to a routine blood test. The drawn blood is placed in a centrifuge, which spins it rapidly to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other components of the blood. This process takes about 10-15 minutes.Once the PRP is ready, the microneedling device is used to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin which allows for better absorption of the PRP This process stimulates the body’s natural healing response and promotes collagen production.

What are polynucleotide injections?

They are derived from the DNA of salmon, specifically from the muscle tissue or other parts of the fish. These tiny injections consist of long chains of nucleotides, which are the building blocks of DNA. They work to boost collagen and improve skin elasticity, reduce fine lines, enhance skin texture, improve hydration, and rejuvenate the skin for a dewy glow!

Who can get this treatment?

Most adults can benefit. A consultation will help determine suitability.

How is the treatment performed?

To enhance comfort, a topical anesthetic cream is uaully applied to the area where the injections will be given. The cream is typically left on for about 20-30 minutes.Using a fine gauge needle, the licensed nurse will carefully inject the polynucleotide solution into the targeted areas. The technique may vary, but injections are typically placed into the dermis (middle layer of the skin) to maximize the benefits. The procedure takes approximately 15-45 minutes depending on treatment areas.

Can Polynucleotides be combined with microneedling sessions?

Yes! After the microneedling procedure, polynucleotides (often in the form of a serum) can be applied to the skin. The micro-channels created during microneedling enhance absorption, allowing the polynucleotides to penetrate deeper into the skin.

How do lip fillers work?

The filler is injected into specific areas of the lips to enhance their fullness and improve their contour, resulting in a more voluminous appearance.

Is the procedure painful?

A topical anesthetic may be applied before the injections to minimize discomfort, and many fillers also contain lidocaine to reduce pain during the procedure.

How long does the treatment take?

The injection process typically takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the desired results.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable substances used to restore volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. They are commonly made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body. We use products such as Juvederm and Restylane which are both popular brands of hyaluronic acid fillers.

How long do the results last?

The effects of both Juvederm and Restylane can last from six months to two years, depending on the specific product used and individual factors like metabolism and lifestyle.

Is the procedure painful?

Most patients report minimal discomfort during the injection process. Many fillers contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to enhance comfort. However, pain tolerance varies among individuals.

Are there any side effects?

Common side effects include swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection site. These usually resolve within a few days. Rarely, more serious side effects can occur, which should be discussed with your practitioner.

Who is a good candidate for dermal fillers?

Good candidates include individuals looking to enhance facial features, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, or restore volume lost due to aging. A consultation with a qualified professional is necessary to assess individual needs.

How soon will I see results?

Results are typically visible immediately after the procedure, although swelling may be present for a short period. The final results will settle in a few days to weeks.
